Agios Ioannis Theologos Vardiola
A Venetian tower-observatory (aka Vardiola) at the southeastern side of Kythira island. It is now part of the little picturesque church of Agios Ioannis Theologos (Saint John the Theologian or the Apostle) and obviously has undergone some serious modifications.
We have no data about the chronology of the tower. The Venetians had built vardiolas in other Ionian islands after the 16th century. But they were in Kythira since the 13th century. So we can only narrow down its history to the period between the 13th and the 18th century.
